More than 50,000 new farmers are using DeHaat for their farming needs, adding to the company’s already existing base of 100,000 farmers. The company has now aimed to reach up to 1 million farmers by 2021.

DeHaat, a start-up that combines agriculture with technology has acquihired a farm management solutions platform Vezamart In a bid to expand their reach to farmers. The team at Vezamart will continue building their farming networks and providing solutions to the farmers.

Harendra Kumar, the founder of Vezamart told Yourstory that they have been in touch with Shashank Kumar, the founder of DeHaat for quite some time now. The primary reason for the companies to join is hands is their shared values and goals of providing betterAgri input linkages to the farmers. Both companies believe that joining hands will be beneficial for them so as to operate on a larger scale and have a bigger impact on the farmers.

DeHaat was founded by an ex-alumnus of IIT Delhi, Shashank Kumar and Manish Kumar who is from IIT Kharagpur in 2012. They wanted to create an online place for connecting farmers to the agricultural supplies and equipment required for farming. The company also helps in collecting produce from over 162 centres. Apart from this, the company also helps farmers to increase the productivity of their farms by providing the required services to them. The services provided by them include logistics, primary processing and daily price displays. They also provide valuable advice to farmers so as to help them farm better.

More than 50,000 new farmers are using DeHaat for their farming needs, adding to the company’s already existing base of 100,000 farmers. The company has now aimed to reach up to 1 million farmers by 2021. This acquihiring of Vezamart will help them come to a step closer to this goal.

Vezamart seems to be an obvious choice for acqihiring for DeHaat, as it has already listed Agri input SKUs of over 700. They also have an extensive crop pest database to give crop advice to the farmers and have over 120 institutional buyers. Apart from gaining a team with valuable experience of 2.5 years in the Agritech market, DeHaat will also gain access to new networks and regions in western UP as they bring Vezamart on board.  Vezamart has done exemplary work on the grass root level with over 10,000 farmers based in districts like Aligarh, Kasganj, Hapur and Bulandshahar. DeHaat has plans to set up 5 new regional warehouses in west UP so as to provide their services to over 50,000 farmers in the current fiscal year. They will strive to provide them with Agri services that will fulfil their required needs from seed to market.

In the course of the last 7 months, DeHaat has dealt with over 20,000 tons of agricultural goods that include chilli, litchi, corn and various vegetables. They have also connected thefarmers to potential buyers. Also, the company has delivered over 26,000 orders over the last 3 months. They have helped 86,000 farmers with advisory inputs as well at the same time.

DeHaat has generated a revenue of ₹45 crore thus far. It clocked ₹21 crore in the last fiscal year and was positive on profits.
