The Viral Fever (TVF) and Edu-Tech Platform ‘Unacademy’ have teamed up to launched ‘Kota Factory’. ‘Kota Factory’ is a TVF original series based on students who leave their house at a young age to go to Kota, Rajasthan to prepare for the competitive entrance examinations.

Released on 16th April on TVFPlay and YouTube, Kota Factory is about lives of students trying to make it into India’s premier institution, IIT. Depicting the people who are part of this ecosystem through a 16-year-old IIT aspirants Vaibhav’s journey. Vaibhav moves to Kota to attend coaching classes in the hopes to crack JEE exams. He learns to manage and engage with the help of his friends, mentors, and Unacademy.

The web series generated much recognition from viewers and critics for its storyline and monochrome theme. The cast includes Mayur More, Jitendra Kumar, and Ahsaas Channa.

What is Unacademy?

Unacademy is a Bangalore-based based educational startup. The educational technology company was founded in 2015 by Gaurav Munjal, Roman Saini, and Hemesh Singh. Unacademy was initially launched as a Youtube video channel by Gaurav Munjal in 2010. By December 2015, Singh and Saini bounded with Mujal and formally started the firm, and registered it under Sorting Hat Technology Pvt Ltd. In 2017, Billionaire entrepreneur Bhavin Turakhia joined the committee.

‘Unacademy’ is in discussions to make $55 million (INR 384 crore) in a funding round headed by an alternative asset management firm, SteadView. The Hong Kong-based hedge fund is backed by big companies Flipkart and Ola. After this agreement, the education platform will be estimated at $250 million (INR 1746 crore).
